Terminations

You possibly waited years to obtain your voucher so following the policies and regulations will prevent you from jeopardizing your housing assistance.

Your participation in the program can be terminated for violations of any of the following family responsibilities:

1) Eviction

2) Failure to cooperate or supply required information

3) Fraud

4) HQS defects

5) Serious Lease Violations

6) Vacating the Unit without notice

7) Failure to notify and obtain written approval from LHA to add a person to the unit.

8) Subsidized unit is not your primary residence.

9) Drug related criminal activity, violent or other criminal activity.

This does not reflect a complete list of reasons you could be terminated. Some termination reasons restrict your future eligibility. See “Obligations of the family” on your voucher and the policies established in the Section 8 Administrative Plan for more information.

When LHA decides to terminate assistance, you and the property owner will receive a written notice of the intended action to terminate which will state the reason for termination, the effective date, provide the family’s right, if they disagree to request an informal hearing and a deadline by which a request for an informal hearing must be received by LHA.
