Resident Council

Resident participation in activities and events is an important part of Burke Plaza, Crossroads House, and Mahoney Manor. At each of these buildings, LHA has assisted the tenants in the development of Resident Councils. The Resident Councils consist of tenants elected by their neighbors to represent them at monthly meetings. Their primary duty is to promote the interests of all residents. Generally, each floor elects a representative and the representatives are led by elected officers.

The Resident Services Specialist at each building serves as the primary link between the residents, the Resident Councils, and the housing authority administration. Resident Councils are encouraged to give input on a wide variety of issues including suggestions for improvements and items for each budget year. Resident Councils also serve to assist in planning activities and events at each building.
