Portability

This information is for families who want to move their rental assistance voucher from an area served by one housing agency to one served by another agency. For example, if you receive a voucher from the City of Omaha and want to move to Lincoln you would need to "port in" to our area.

Port In

We are currently absorbing new port-in families from other Public Housing Authorities.  The Payment Standards of the Lincoln Housing Authority will apply to all port-in families.

1. The paperwork for incoming transfers can take 10-15 days to process after we receive the initial paperwork from your current housing agency.

3. It is important you have a temporary place to stay and the money to support yourself and your family until your transfer process is done.

5. We cannot begin the transfer to our jurisdiction until we receive a packet of information called a portability packet from your current housing agency.

15. Once we receive your packet it will be processed and criminal history will be requested.  You will need to contact us to schedule an appointment.  During your appointment your housing will be determined.  Your assistance may change based on our Moving to Work Policies.

Port Out

If you currently receive a housing voucher from the Lincoln Housing Authority and you want to move or "port-out" you will need to contact your Housing Specialist.
