Does everyone wait the same amount of time for a Voucher?
No. It is not a first-come, first-served system.
LHA has established local preferences for selecting applicants. Families who qualify for these local preferences move ahead of other families on the list that do not.
Additionally and in most cases, families, older adults (age 62 and older) and the disabled (as defined by Social Security) are selected from LHA’s waiting list before single, non-disabled and non-elderly applicants.
