Created in 1994, the Northeast High School House Project is a joint venture of LHA and Lincoln Public Schools. Students in residential construction classes build a single-family home each year for LHA. The housing authority provides the lot for the project and hires a general contractor. The general contractor purchases building materials and supervises work items which must be completed by sub-contractors with a high level of expertise such as plumbing, wiring, heating/air conditioning and concrete work. Students perform tasks such as framing, exterior siding, drywall installation and finishing, and finish carpentry. The work is completed during the normal September to June school year. Completion of the project is celebrated with an open house and tribute to the students.

The houses are either sold or placed in our lease-purchase program. See Home Ownership Programs.
